X Factor's Louis Walsh Says

X Factor's Louis Walsh says Strictly Come Dancing sacking Arlene Phillips will boost their viewing figures

Strictly Come Dancing chiefs are being ridiculed by their ITV rivals for axing Arlene Phillips.

X Factor’s Louis Walsh claimed the BBC decision to oust popular judge Arlene would backfire – and increase ratings for his show .

He said: “They’ve made a massive mistake sacking Arlene. She knows more about dancing than anyone else.” The Irish judge’s comments come as

X Factor insiders “privately rejoice” in chaos engulfing the BBC show.

One said: “X Factor think replacing Arlene is incredible and could drive disgruntled viewers to them instead.” The BBC have had more than 1,500 complaints about Arlene’s departure - and the number is rising.

Pressure is mounting for them to reinstate Arlene, 66, who has been replaced by 30-year-old singer and show winner Alesha Dixon. The source added: “X Factor think it’s funny they’ve brought in Alesha to attract younger viewers.

“Most young people aren’t drawn

to ballroom dancing. Nothing will change that.”

In a You Gov poll, 17 % said they will switch off in protest at Arlene going. The BBC insisted Alesha would add

“a new dimension” to the panel.

Susan Boyle Snaps Up Scottish Council House

Britain's Got Talent's Susan Boyle Snaps Up Scottish Council House'

Despite move to London

Britain's Got Talent runner up Susan Boyle has bought her council house in Blackburn, Scotland, according to reports.

The 48-year-old was pictured carrying a slip of paper as she left her bank this morning.

Boyle has spent most of her time in London since she appeared on the TV show earlier this year.

But in an interview with the Daily Record, her brother Gerry said she was still keen to maintain her roots.

“Susan walked into the local council office and told them that although she was living in London, she didn’t want them to rent her house to anyone else,” he said.

“I think people were a bit shocked to see her but they told her they had no plans to let it go to anyone else – and now she wants to buy it.

"She will never forget her roots.”

Boyle, whose performance on Britain's Got Talent became a worldwide sensation, is currently recording her debut album.
